Sea lions, as typical mammals, have internal development with several embryos developing in the womb of the mother. The swallow and grass snake lay eggs very soon after fertilisation by a male, and the herring and frog lay unfertilised eggs that are immediately fertilised, outside the female's body, by a nearby male.
